Sharing knowledge
Connecting researchers and the public
At the heart of effective science communication is the power of community. By bringing together researchers and the public, we create an environment where knowledge is shared, understood, and valued. Our approach helps scientists engage with citizens, deepening understanding. Through collaboration and thoughtful information sharing, we support scientists in closing the gap between science and society.

Regional campaign
Public engagement is not a one-size-fits-all approach
Regional science engagement campaigns are crucial to make research more accessible and relevant to communities. By tailoring content to regional interests and needs, we can deepen connections between scientists and the public who benefit from their research. These campaigns bring researchers and citizens together, sparking curiosity and encouraging informed discussions on key issues.

Science talk
Pub or classroom? Stepping out of the ivory tower is key
Public science talks provide a unique opportunity for researchers to connect personally with local communities, including pupils. These events create an open space for discussion, where scientific ideas can be shared in an accessible and engaging way. By focusing on topics that resonate with local concerns, we encourage participation and curiosity. For example, together with science communicators, universities, and research institutions we have developed the light-hearted and successful pub talk series “Hirn vom Hahn” (Brain from Tap). We are delighted to collaborate with you in developing new science talk events.
Hackathon
Using collective brain power for new ideas
Scientific hackathons are events where innovation converges with collaboration in research and technology. These high-energy gatherings bring together scientists, developers, and engaged citizens who enjoy problem-solving to tackle challenges in fields such as biotechnology, data science, and environmental studies. Within just 24-48 hours teams conceptualise, prototype, and present solutions – often unveiling surprising and inspiring outcomes through interdisciplinary approaches.

Serious board game
A tool for behavioural change
A serious board game provides enjoyment, while focusing on education or problem-solving of real-world issues. Serious games incorporate meaningful storytelling, strategic gameplay and sometimes also realistic simulations which immerses players in interactive scenarios. This stimulates experimentation, understanding and learning through experience. For instance, a game focused on energy savings might challenge players to adopt sustainable habits. Through engagement and competition, serious board games can influence real-world behaviour, fostering long-term changes in mindset and decision-making.
